The Weight of the Clouds | Episode 2

The simulator tower loomed over the training grounds, the smooth, black surface reflecting the sunlight like polished obsidian. For most recruits, the simulator was a symbol of hope, the final step before earning a place on the Monster Control Crew. But to Damian, the sight was like gazing towards a towering giant, challenging him to a duel. Today, he felt its shadow more than ever. A brisk wind swept through the courtyard, carrying the faint hum of machinery from the tower’s core. Recruits crowded around the platform at its base, each clutching their weapons and murmuring nervously. The tension was thick enough to cut with a spear.   Recruits were slowly approaching the machine, whispering about their expectations, making bets about who would pass and who would not. Everyone looked nervous, except for Tsuyo, the bunny girl looked excited as always, a bright smile on her face. Damian was blankly staring forward,  “Don’t overthink it, Damian. We’ve got this.” His best friend ha...

Division 12: Neo Tokyo - Chapter 1 [Demo, please leave your opinion in the comments, will be completed if feedback is positive]

Things were a lot different in Tokyo these days. Or at least, that's what everyone was thinking, with the rising levels in Yo-Kai activity in the last few months. The Yo-Kai Control Crew had spent countless nights pursuing and killing the malevolent spirits, and their Danger Level had only been escalating exponentially, from a Level 2 in January to a Level 4 in late March. Things were not going well, and thus they started a program that hadn't been seen in action since the Great Invasion almost twelve years prior. The Yo-Kai Control Officer Trials were once again in motion, and every single school in Tokyo was preparing their students to have a chance, as slim as it was, to have the honor of becoming the next generation of heroes. Every kid trained their Gift, their special ability every human obtains at birth from the Sun Goddess Amaterasu. Everyone wanted to be THE next great hero that others could look up to. And no one wanted that title more than Yamaoka Masumi and Kanai Ma...

Like Fish out of Water | Chapter 1

As the quiet stillness of the countryside crescendoed into the usual lively sounds of the city, a small white pick-up truck cruised the highway full of the belongings of the Kurusu siblings, the two shiba inus were making their way to the Aokabe city to begin an exciting new life together. At the wheel was Hiro Kurusu, the older of the two, his grip was firm and his expression slightly nervous, occasionally shifting his gaze toward the young girl on the passenger seat to his left: Haru Kurusu, his little sister, who was not a day over eighteen by that point, she was fast asleep with her head against the window, her paws tightly grasping a small plush doll resembling a cat. The long asphalt street eventually led the truck into the heart of the city, the loud and busy streets were unlike anything Hiro had ever seen. Struggling to remember the long list of traffic laws that he had meticulously studied for a week, he drove around like lost puppy looking for his mother, trying (and fa...
